According to the 2022 National Diabetes Statistics Report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than 11 percent of the U.S. population (approximately 37.3 million people) have diabetes. Alarmingly, 96 million people aged 18 years or older have prediabetes, which is 38 percent of the adult U.S. population. And, diabetes is the leading cause of new cases of blindness among adults aged 18–64 years.
