ALEXANDRIA, Va.—Vision Expo is introducing never-before-seen education curated by the Education Advisory Board at Vision Expo East 2020 in New York City. Notably, this year’s Show will feature nine exclusive clinical tracks, staged for the first time ever, with more than 100 hours of new content organized by key subject areas. In addition to new clinical offerings, Vision Expo East will offer actionable, business-focused courses highlighting ways to stimulate leadership, culture and profitability with topics ranging from customer experience to human resources.

With a renewed focus on discovery, connection and experience, the refreshed education programming is central to the larger reimagination of the signature event by The Vision Council and co-owner of the Show Reed Exhibitions, according to an announcement from show organizers.

“Vision Expo East 2020 has been designed to deliver the ultimate education experience. From never-before-seen clinical tracks to engaging business and leadership-focused courses, the rich education offerings reflect Vision Expo’s commitment to serving as the most cutting-edge hub for learning and innovation,” said Dr. Ben Gaddie, co-chairman of the conference advisory board. “Each course is thoughtfully designed to deliver relevant and timely information as well as hands-on training through interactive demonstrations.”

The nine exclusive clinical tracks will include glaucoma, posterior segment, anterior segment, surgical/co-management, systemic disease and diabetes, with each course developed to immerse attendees in the most cutting-edge developments for better patient care. Attendees will learn from the most knowledgeable experts in the industry as they unveil groundbreaking technology and speak to the latest trends in diagnosis as well as treatment of common eye diseases.

The business-focused courses will address some of today’s most prevalent business issues—each course will provide attendees with practical solutions designed for immediate implementation. Attendees will have the opportunity to address critical areas of business including marketing, growing and transitioning a practice, measuring financial success, building a great staff and competing in a digitally connected world.

Additionally, hands-on marketing training will be offered at four different 4ECPs Marketing Workshops, presented by Marketing4ECPs, that will delve into four fundamental marketing channels including social media, digital marketing, video and blogging, and merchandising. Attendees will have access to tools and resources needed to efficiently and profitably implement the learnings within their own businesses.

Returning to the Show this year, OptiCon @ Vision Expo will host multiple educational and networking events including an exclusive general session, welcome event and special programs in the OptiCon @ Vision Expo Hub. After a successful debut year, OptiCon @ Vision Expo, The National Federation of Opticianry Schools (NFOS) and Hoya Vision Care will present the NFOS Hoya College Bowl.

During this Jeopardy-style competition, students are quizzed on topics including anatomy and physiology of the eye, ophthalmic dispensing and ophthalmic fabrication for the chance to win $500. Prior to the event, the OptiCon @ Vision Expo Hub will host a pre-game celebration.

Exploring the most common condition seen by optometrists, the Myopia Track will include five hours of programming created by the Brien Holden Vision Institute, the leading global authority on myopia. Experts from the Brien Holden Institute will present insights on the importance of myopia management from a clinical and business perspective.

The programming will also include Managing Myopia for Staff: Communication and Marketing Workshop, a two-hour workshop that will help participants communicate the risks of myopia, available interventions, benefits of managing myopia and the long-term importance of managing myopia for patients’ life-long visual needs.

Following its successful 2019 debut, the March Madness: Case Challenges in Optometry - Optimizing Ocular Imaging competition will offer attendees the opportunity to witness interesting cases highlighting imaging technology and the chance to decide the winner via interactive polling technology. Attendees will also have access to a free two-hour imaging workshop.

Education at Vision Expo will take place March 26-29, 2020. The Vision Expo Exhibit Hall will be open from March 27-29, 2020. The River, one of three new neighborhoods to debut at Vision Expo East 2020, will open on March 26, one day earlier than the general Exhibit Hall.
