NEW YORK—Every year, at the tail end of June, sunglasses take over social media. In 2018, The Vision Council’s National Sunglasses Day was a social media sensation, amassing over 1 billion online, social media, and broadcast media impressions across the board. And 2019 was no different. According to The Vision Council, #NationalSunglassesDay was a trending topic on Twitter throughout the day on June 27, 2019, even popping up on the social media profiles of celebrities like Salma Hayek, Kathie Lee Gifford, The Ellen Show, Bethenny Frankel, and even the U.S. Secret Service. Once again, National Sunglasses Day was a resounding success. Here's a look back on how everything went down on social media last month.

The 2019 Amazon Consumer Behavior Report by e-commerce experts Feedvisor provides a detailed view into the browsing and buying habits of more than 2,000 U.S. consumers who have shopped on Amazon in the last two years. The survey revealed that more than half of consumers (58 percent) buy products online at least once every few weeks, with nearly one-fifth (18 percent) making online purchases at least a few times a week. Of the consumers who belong to Amazon Prime, Amazon’s subscription program, nearly half (48 percent) buy products online once a week or more frequently and nearly three-quarters (74 percent) shop online at least every few weeks, according to Feedvisor.

Faye Gamboa, OD, has created a carefully crafted, immersive experience for patients and customers at Wanderlust Eyecare in Northfield, Illinois. She was inspired by her love of traveling—wanderlusting, as she calls it, as well as going on mission trips to help those in need—and each piece of décor has also been placed with great consideration. “Each decoration has a story,” Dr. Gamboa said. There’s pottery from a mission trip in Morroco, teacups from Dr. Gamboa’s honeymoon in the Maldives and a collection of vintage cameras to represent a love of photography. There’s a large, canvas display in the optical space, which maps out where she’s traveled on her mission trips.
