NEW YORK—Like almost everything else that’s happened in 2020, this year’s Thanksgiving celebrations are going to be very different from what we’re used to. Although we’ve been battling COVID-19 for months now, the passage of time hasn’t actually made missing out on events and gatherings with our loved ones much easier, and Thanksgiving is no exception. This time of year is associated with spending time with loved ones who we might not get to see otherwise—but this year, experts including the CDC have heavily discouraged travel and gathering with people outside our immediate households. While these sacrifices are imperative for protecting physical health, there’s no question they have an effect on our mental health—positive in some ways, and negative in others.

BATH, England and NUREMBERG, Germany—Inspecs Group PLC (LSE: SPEC), a leading designer, manufacturer and distributor of eyewear frames, announced that it has conditionally agreed to acquire all of the equity interests in Eschenbach Holding GmbH for €94.85 million (approximately £84.7 million). The consideration will be paid wholly in cash on closing. Eschenbach is a leading, global, eyewear supplier headquartered in Nuremberg, Germany. It has two divisions, one focused on designing and distributing eyeglass frames and sunglasses (which consists of Tura in the U.S.) and one on designing, manufacturing and distributing specialty optics products and low vision technologies, which is the Optics Division (Eschenbach Optik of America).

NEW YORK—American Express’ #ShopSmall initiative has taken on new dimensions in this unique year, extending the spotlight on the importance of supporting local small businesses to consumers in a range of categories. Just last month, Amex launched a new podcast, “Built to Last,” a series of conversations with trailblazing Black small business owners. The podcast is hosted by Elaine Welteroth, the former editor-in-chief of Teen Vogue, journalist, producer and New York Times best-selling author. Welteroth said, “I am excited to partner with American Express to shine a light on Black entrepreneurs that are blazing new trails and finding innovative ways to thrive despite unprecedented challenges.”
