LAUNCHES

Costa’s New Rx PAL Widens Field of View

More Images

Quick Take:
Costa Del Mar’s Rx division is launching C-Scape, an exclusive progressive sun lens designed to widen the field of view from left to right and enhance peripheral vision to create what Costa referred to as, “the clearest Rx sun lens available.”
Wearer: C-Scape is engineered to accommodate the distance vision needs of water sports and outdoors enthusiasts.
Specifics: In addition to increasing distance vision, C-Scape maintains excellent image recognition across the entire lens, according to Costa. There’s no “swimming,” allowing wearers to quickly adapt to their new Rx sunglasses, the company said.
Selling Points: To produce the lens, Costa utilizes its proprietary Waypoint digital processing technology which eliminates the blurry edges that can bother active wearers of wrap sunglasses. The process is computer guided for accuracy, and also incorporates the behavior patterns of the active wearer, the high base curve effect of the wrap lenses and specific frame data. This leads to a wider field of vision and improved clarity and comfort, allowing the lenses to be worn all day without eyestrain and headaches, Costa said.

Allison's Opposit for the ‘Male and Female in Each of Us’

More Images
Quick Take:
Allison S.p.A. has launched Opposit, a brand for those who believe in “the freedom from constraints, the desire to be oneself and the aptitude to accept others with their differences.”
Wearer: The collection is designed for men or women.
Specifics: The collection offers eight versatile “unisex” models which are available as both optical and sunglasses. The sun lenses are all gradient and the symbols of the brand, found on each model, are the metal cross and the arrow, the male and female gender symbols, which start at the temples and end on the front endpiece. The symbols are meant to convey the wearer’s “freedom to live and to love; seduction, sexuality, sensuality and provocation in their own way and to express the male and female elements that live in each of us,” according to Allison.
Selling Points: Shapes range from trapezoidal styles inspired by the ‘70s to cateyes with ‘50s pin up allure and perfect rounds. Colors include matte gray, fuchsia, opal green, pink eclectic, vitaminic blue, beige ivory, Havana animalier and matte black with the distinctive symbols in rose gold, silver, ruthenium or classic gold.
