LAUNCHES

Transitions Launches Faster, Darker Photochromic

Quick Take: Transitions Optical is launching Transitions Signature VII, which the company is touting as “its most responsive everyday adaptive lenses ever.”
Wearer: Those seeking improvement on their current photochromic lens options.
Specifics: Created through a new product development model called Life360, Transitions Signature VII lenses are designed to be more responsive in more situations, according to Transitions Optical, which tested the lenses in more than 200 conditions and geographies. The new lenses use Chromea7, a proprietary dye formulation that allows the lenses to be more reactive to indirect sunlight and reflected sunlight, and become even darker on hot days.
Selling Points: Intended as a replacement for Transitions VI, the company’s flagship product for the past six years, Transitions Signature VII offers maximum indoor clarity and responsiveness to UV outdoors, according to Transitions Optical. Additionally, the lenses have improved gray and brown tints. “The gray tint is a more neutral color, offering true life color and the brown is the best every day, contrast-enhancing lens we’ve ever offered,” said John Ligas, director, research and development, Transitions Optical. It will be available to eyecare professionals beginning Jan. 7, 2014 in a range of materials and designs.

More Images

Quick Take: The first eyewear collection by Love Moschino, just launched by Allison which already licenses the Moschino brand, is now available.
Wearer: Love Moschino is the most feminine of Moschino labels, representing the creative, intelligent and ironic character of the Moschino brand blended with the ideals of love: passion, feeling and friendship. The result is a collection that pays tribute to founder Franco Moschino, who puts symbols such as peace, hearts, polka dots and stripes in all of his creations.
Specifics: The eyewear collection consists of five spectacle and 12 sunglass models, made in acetates with colors ranging from black and white to red and blue.
Selling Points: The round ML501 sunglasses highlight the peace symbol done in metal on the temple. Elsewhere, a playful striped pattern enlivens the acetate interiors of the cat shape in optical ML003 style and the ML001, which has a wider, unisex profile. As expected, the symbol of love, the heart, is drilled in the front of the acetate ML500 sunglasses, while the super round ML516 sunglasses are for the risk takers with licorice spirals done in high relief.
