Avalon Eyewear Launches ‘Couture’ Collection

More Images
Quick Take: Avalon Eyewear has launched an all new Made in France eyewear collection called Avalon Couture.
Wearer: Sophisticated women.
Specifics: The Avalon Couture collection debuts with four styles in metal and combination styles that blend rich materials to create modern classics. Styles range from full-rim, semi- and demi-rimless and include modified rectangles, butterflies and oval shapes. Each style comes in three colors and additional details include crystal stones, semi-precious metallic decor and a variety of rich colors.
Selling Points: The result is a collection that evokes the influence of Japanese culture in French fine arts starting from the late 19th century. Premium materials include unique acetates created with an overlay of copper powder that creates different colors and textures as it oxidizes and is cured. The effect recreates the ancient Japanese lacquer technique known as Maki-e, which used copper, gold or silver powder applied using a brush. Merchandise materials include a six-frame display and single frame logo plaque, as well as counter cards.

Modo Unveils Eco 2.0 Fall/Winter Collection

More Images
Quick Take: Modo has introduced the Fall/Winter 2013 eyewear collection from Eco 2.0.
Specifics: The collection features 13 styles. The male frame designs focus on angular lines, which provide a modern architectural look and feel, while the feminine styles are vintage inspired with an oversized frame. The unisex frame offers a retro feel with a classic P3 shape with a flat top.
Selling Points: A continuation of Eco 2.0’s “Skinny Collection,” the Fall/Winter 2013 acetate styles feature incredibly thin plastic. Unlike many plastic frames, Eco 2.0’s Fall/Winter 2013 collection boasts styles that convey the geek-chic look, without the thickness and heaviness regularly associated to this particular trend, the company said. The FW13 Eco 2.0 metal styles are a continuation of the “Flex Collection,” which offers extremely flexible temples thanks to the use of thin surgical stainless steel and a unique barrel hinge. The collection is born recycled and certified by UL Environment, a leading independent agency dedicated to promoting safe living and working environments, which guarantees that Eco frames are produced with at least 95 percent recycled materials.
