Tom Ford by Marcolin Launches Private Eyewear Collection

More Images
Quick Take: Marcolin has announced the launch of the Tom Ford Private Eyewear Collection, a special edition of five sunglasses and six optical frames.
Wearer: The collection is designed for the eyewear connoisseur.
Specifics: This 11-piece collection commemorates Tom Ford’s 11 years of making eyewear.
Selling Points: “These are the frames that I personally wear and in some instances originally designed only for myself. This is truly my own private collection,” said Tom Ford. “In most cases these editions of my favorite frames have been produced in new elevated materials that are uncommon in most commercially produced frames.” Crafted from premium materials, the collection utilizes real buffalo horn for its natural pattern and warm, luxurious finish, as well as the highest-grade Japanese titanium for its ultra-light weight and sleek, progressive look. All sunglasses feature photochromic lenses that darken and lighten automatically depending on the light conditions, while the optical lenses are lightly tinted in green, blue or brown. The new Tom N.4 sunglass features Tom Ford’s signature cross-front that reinvents the classic aviator for a head-turning look. Made of titanium, this style is available in shiny rose gold, light ruthenium and black with light brown or smoke with silver mirror photochromic lenses. The collection is available at Tom Ford stores and select retailers worldwide as well as online at Tomford.com.

Jins Debuts Blue Filtering Nighttime Glasses

Quick Take: Jins Eyewear is launching Jins Screen Night, a new version of its Jins Screen glasses that protect the eyes from prolonged use of digital devices, including computer screens and smart phones.
Wearer: Designed for those who spend late nights surfing and texting on a tablet or other mobile device.
Specifics: These glasses filter out 60 percent of melatonin-reducing blue light, which may be just enough to help users get the restful sleep they deserve, the company said.
Selling Points: A 2015 study conducted by Keio University in Japan showed that wearing Jins Screen Night increases production of the sleeping hormone, melatonin. Jins reports that since launching Jins Screen—originally known as Jins PC—in Japan in 2011, it has sold more than six million pairs. Jins Screen Night is available online and at the Jins Union Square store in San Francisco. It can be specially ordered and is available for an additional $80, plus the cost of the frame. The regular Jins Screen costs an additional $60, and is also available in the non-prescription boxed Square and Wellington styles.
