Safilens Introduces Sonic Wave Generator 2.0

Product: Sonic Wave Generator 2.0
Top Line: Safilens, the Italy-based contact lens maker, is launching the Sonic Wave Generator 2.0, a new, upgraded version of the sonication device for the company’s patented Open Care System for monthly lenses which premiered in 2013.
Close Up: The sonic waves released by the SWG combined with Open Reload—an all-in—one solution with a high concentration of Fusion co-polymer that uses a superior quality hyaluronic acid – ensure that deposit build-up is removed and HA (hyaluronic acid) and TSP (Tamarind Seed Polysaccharide) are reabsorbed during the night. This guarantees a regenerated spherical (Open 30) or cylindrical (Open 30 Toric) lens every day, according to Safilens.
Sonic Wave Generator 2.0 comes with a mini-USB rechargeable battery and cable with a 45-day battery lifetime and a 25 percent more powerful engine than the previous version. The frequency range is broader and sinusoidal to recondition the entire surface of the lens and the pulsating blue light is equal to a bactericidal and fungicidal wavelength. The new generator also has a liquid measuring sensor and touch commands instead of press buttons.
The Sonic Wave Generator replaces the previous generator used in the Open system.
Vital Stats: The Safilens Open Care System includes contact lenses, the all-in-one “Reload” solution and a sonic wave generator. As a result of Safilens’ proprietary fusion technology, the lens benefits from the combined action of hyaluronic acid (HA) and Tamarind Seed Polysaccharide (TSP): this synergy increases the hydrating, lubricating, mucomimetic, protective and cell regeneration effect of the two single polymers and enhances tear film stability. “Open Reload” is an all-in-one solution with a high concentration of Fusion co-polymer which uses a superior quality hyaluronic acid: a pharmaceutical grade acid that does not use raw materials of animal origin or organic solvents, guaranteeing safety, stability and minimum risk of undesired effects. The sonic wave generator ensures build-up removal and HA and TSP re-absorption during the night, for a regenerated lens every day.

Gulden’s New Premium IOL Lens Inserts Educate Patients on IOL Options

Product: IOL Lens Inserts for Patient Education
Top Line: Explaining the lens removal procedure and the IOL implant options to a patient ready to undergo cataract surgery may be difficult. To help educate the patient, Gulden Ophthalmics has created three interchangeable IOL inserts for their Cataract Eye Model. When used together, the patient can better understand both how a cataract is surgically removed as well as their IOL options. This can great reduce the chair time needed to educate patients.
Close Up: The premium IOL inserts are designed to occupy the place in the Gulden Eye Model where the natural lens currently situated. All three IOL implant options can be demonstrated by substituting one type of implant for another, depending on the patient particular refractive condition. Patients can better understand the procedure as well as their implant options. Gulden's interchangeable lenses include a monofocal IOL, a toric IOL, and a multifocal IOL. Standard monofocal IOL implants are designed to restore distance vision. These IOLs are typically covered by insurance. Premium toric IOL implants correct pre-existing astigmatism, and multifocal lenses help to improve vision at near, intermediate, and far. Since patients pay extra for the premium IOL implants, it is important to discuss not only their IOL options but how they work to correct their particular refractive error.
Vital Stat: The IOL lens inserts are sold separately from the Cataract Eye Model.
