Vuzix M100 Smart Glasses Now Support Both Apple iOS and Android Platforms

Product: Vuzix M100 with Apple iOS and Android Platforms
Top Line: Vuzix Corp. announced that its Vuzix M100 Smart Glasses Manager app is now available on iTunes and Google Play, enabling full M100 compatibility on both the Android and iOS platforms. Vuzix Smart Glasses Manager app and the M100 Smart Glasses are covered under multiple US and international patents and patents pending.
Close Up: The Vuzix Smart Glasses Manager ("SGM") app provides users with access to more content and functionality for their Vuzix Smart Glasses via their smartphone and is available to Smart Glasses users for free. The SGM application streamlines the interaction between the user's M100 and their smartphone, enabling a seamless connection that allows users to control their M100 Smart Glasses directly from either an Android or iOS platform. Utilizing the M100 Smart Glasses in tandem with the SGM manager application, users can launch and control any M100 application such as operating the M100 camera, sharing pictures, viewing hardware settings for the M100 and connecting to wireless networks. For example, the SGM application can enhance the functionality of the Vuzix Smart Glasses in telemedicine training. While wearing Vuzix Smart Glasses a teaching physician can use the SGM app to connect the M100 Smart Glasses, through their smartphone, to students anywhere in the world; offering a "first person view" while providing real-time instructions.
The Smart Glasses Manager also opens a portal to Vuzix app store to allow the selection, purchase and management of the user's applications. The company is continually expanding the Vuzix app store with a growing and broad variety of apps covering genres from enterprise to tools and includes both Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) applications. "We are very excited to make the SGM app available on both Apple iTunes and Google Play," said Paul Travers, President and CEO of Vuzix. "Enabling support on Apple's iOS platform and now being downloadable from both Apple iTunes and Google Play makes it very easy to enable and control Vuzix Smart Glasses features on both platforms. Following our initial support of Android devices, we now have added full iOS support, considered 'mission' critical for many of our customers. Being on both stores will make the Vuzix Smart Glasses that much easier to enable for all of our customers."
Vital Stats: Vuzix M100 Smart Glasses Manager app is now available on iTunes and Google Play, enabling full M100 compatibility on both the Android and iOS platforms.

Eschenbach’s New Headlight LED Attaches Easily to Eyewear

More Images
Product: Headlight LED
Top Line: Eschenbach clip-on LED light, the Headlight LED, is a new hands-free illumination device. It includes a MaxDetail with the Headlight LED already attached using a customized adapter that fits over the bridge.
Close Up: The two bright LEDs provide an outstanding 3,200 lux of flicker-free illumination at 25cm (approx. 10 inches from the object) or 1,200 lux at 40cm (approx. 16 inches from the object). This high brightness is possible due, in part, to the incorporation of new CPC (Compound Parabolic Concentrator) optic technology.
The Headlight LED uses 3 AA batteries (included) and the operating time is about 8 consecutive hours in full LED bright mode. Using the Eco mode (about 75 percent brightness), the operating time is approximately 13 consecutive hours.
The batteries are contained in a sleek case that can be placed in a pocket or on a belt using the optional belt clip. The battery case is connected to the LEDs by a thin cable 1m (3.2 feet) long that can be attached to the temples of the eyewear so it is out of the way. The vertical angle of the light is adjustable so it can be pointed up or down depending where the object being viewed is located. And the weight of the lighting element is only 8 grams (2 ounces), so it’s very portable.
Vital Stats: A protective, hard foam case traveling case is included and the lamp housing dimensions are 32 (1.2 in) x 20 (.7 in) x 34mm (1.3 in). Illumination strength: Approx. 3200 lux at 250mm, 1200 lux at 400mm; illumination time: Approx. eight hours normal mode, approx.. 14 hours in eco mode.
