Eyenetra Releases Insight Cloud-Based Electronic Medical Records For Eyecare

Top Line: EyeNetra is released for general availability its new cloud-based software called Insight. The HIPAA-compliant software combines electronic medical records with workflow automation, allowing optometrists and other eyecare professionals (ECPs) to easily keep track of key optical measurements, health histories, and patient visits. Insight enables ECPs to communicate prescriptions and other important information securely with patients. Insight also integrates an online web portal for each doctor where patients can learn about the practice and schedule appointments.
Close Up: EyeNetra’s products make getting and giving eyecare more convenient in the developed world and more accessible in the developing world. The company began shipping its smartphone-powered autorefractor and lensmeter at the end of last year, and added its phoropter early this spring. Their products are small, lightweight, highly portable and extremely accurate.
“The software is a natural extension to our three FDA-registered devices,” said EyeNetra Founder and Co-CEO Vitor Pamplona. “Because they are smartphone-powered tools, they are inherently connected to the cloud. Insight takes full advantage of that connectivity by automatically gathering patient measurements from the devices, associating them with patient profiles, and keeping the full electronic medical records securely in the cloud where eyecare professionals can access them and write prescriptions. The entire system is HIPAA compliant. Our customers can focus on their practice, while we manage their software and regular backups.”
Vital Stats: EyeNetra is releasing three different versions of Insight software on a software-as-a-service (SaaS) model.
● For small practices and academic researchers, Insight Basic automatically captures measurements from EyeNetra’s smartphone-powered devices in the cloud where they can be stored and reviewed. Priced at $39 per month , Insight Basic eliminates lost or damaged paper records and prevents transcription errors.
● For medium and large practices, Insight Professional includes everything in Insight Basic and adds patient intake forms, full patient history and exam results, and HIPAA compliant messaging for practitioners to communicate prescriptions and other information with patients. Priced at $199 per month, Insight Professional also provides public web pages for optometry practices where current and potential patients can learn about the services offered.
● Insight Enterprise, priced at $499 per month, includes everything in Insight Professional plus a dashboard of metrics to track multiple discrete divisions or subsidiaries within a complex enterprise.
All versions of Insight can be integrated with existing patient and practice information systems so that information flows electronically without the need to be duplicated.

Topcon Medical Systems and M&S Technologies Partner on Computerized Vision Testing Systems

Top Line: Topcon Medical Systems and M&S Technologies have entered into a partnership in which M&S Technologies will exclusively provide the M&S Smart System software to Topcon Medical Systems for incorporation into the Topcon CV-5000S Automated Vision Tester.

Vital Stats: The complete integration of the M&S Smart System software in the CV-5000S will improve office workflow by providing the ability to digitally document 100 percent of the eye exam and have a one-touch wheelchair chart distance setting.
The M&S Smart System software is actually imbedded in the CV-5000S and can be used with the Topcon PC-50S Visual Acuity Chart or connected to current M&S Smart System 20/20 users to provide a complete digital refraction experience
without the need for a remote.
The CV-5000S with M&S Smart System software will be featured at Vision Expo West on Sept 15 to 17 in Las Vegas as well as the American Academy of Ophthalmology on Oct 15-18 in Chicago.
