NEW YORK—To meet current and future demands for its growing contact lens portfolio, CooperVision has invested $38 million in the expansion and renovation of its global packaging and distribution center in West Henrietta, N.Y. The project—which took approximately 18 months—was recently completed. The expansion added 150,000 square feet to the facility, which is now approximately 400,000 square feet. The additional space accommodates CooperVision’s current needs, as well as the company’s projected growth over the next decade, and includes enhanced storage space and technology, as well as expanded packaging capabilities.

CooperVision’s West Henrietta facility is currently packaging 800 million lenses, and processes and ships a billion lenses a year, with substantial growth expected. The facility receives and houses bulk product from all of CooperVision’s manufacturing sites and distributes contact lenses—including the company’s MyDay, clariti 1 day, MiSight 1 day, and Biofinity brands—to customers in North America, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia-Pacific markets.

The West Henrietta facility recently earned the prestigious LEED Silver certification for its environmentally conscious design and operation. CooperVision continuously seeks opportunities to be more sustainable in its operations, and identified and implemented several enhancements at the center for a positive environmental impact. The site is also powered by 100 percent renewable energy.

“The West Henrietta site is CooperVision’s largest packaging and distribution center in the world. The investments made in this expansion enable our teams to get our innovative contact lenses into the hands of customers and wearers quickly and efficiently, matching our mission to help improve the way people see each day,” said Jim Fiorino, senior director of distribution operations, Americas, CooperVision.

“The additional space and technologies put us in a position to better meet the needs of not only our customers today, but in the years to come,” he said.
