MUNICH—Show organizers have announced that opti 2023 is set to be held two weeks earlier than usual, running from Jan. 13-15, 2023. The trade show was initially planned for Jan. 27-29, 2023, as reported in VMAIL. The show will be held at Fairground Munich as usual; show organizers also announced that earlier plans to alternate the location of the trade show between Munich in even years and Stuttgart in odd years will no longer apply. From 2022 on, Munich will be the show’s permanent home.

Klaus Plaschka, managing director of the organizer GHM Gesellschaft für Handwerksmessen mbH, said of the new dates, “We have once again made use of the flexibility on offer in the trade fair calendar. We saw it almost as our duty to seize the opportunity of holding opti in its traditional, attractive mid-January spot. By doing so, we aim to send out a clear message and give our exhibitors a helping hand by aligning all the brands at the start of the new sales year.”

opti’s exhibition director Bettina Reiter said, “We want to leave the pandemic related lean period far behind us and go on the offensive to create the best possible framework conditions for the industry. Next year, it will be 15 years since the well-known and established January date became the perfect launch pad into the new year for the ophthalmic optics sector in the German-speaking region.”
