BOCA RATON, Fla. and RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif.—Professional Eye Care Associates of America (PECAA) and VSP Vision have announced two high-impact initiatives to fuel success for private practice optometry. Beginning March 1, the VSP Vision Exam Rebate will be enhanced to enable PECAA Max members to double the rebate amount earned for VSP commercial eye exams. The newly-enhanced rebate now offers doctors the opportunity to earn up to $10 per exam and as much as $55,000 in total incremental revenue during 2024.

More than $5 million has already been earned by approximately 1,300 PECAA Max members since the rebate was launched last summer. That offer, together with PECAA’s many exclusive benefits, has contributed to record PECAA Max growth, with membership increasing by 22 percent to an all-time high last year.

“Our expanded investment in the VSP Exam Rebate is the latest example of how we are delivering on our commitment to ensure private practice continues to thrive,” said PECAA president Jonathan Worrall. “More independent doctors than ever before are enjoying the benefits of PECAA Max membership. From this incredibly valuable offering, to our extensive practice-building resources and the passionate support of the PECAA community, we’re proud to continue serving our members and delivering maximum value.”

Due to the overwhelmingly positive response from doctors, the VSP Vision Exam Rebate, originally launched in July 2023 as a six-month program, was extended through the end of 2024.

“From the beginning, our intent with the VSP Vision Exam Rebate has been to address the financial challenges of owning and operating a private practice, and doctors have resoundingly embraced it, citing it as a game-changer for their business,” said VSP vision chief provider and industry solutions officer Michelle Skinner. “In listening to their needs, doubling the rebate offer was a natural next step as we extend our focus on supporting private practice’s growth and long-term success.”

In addition, PECAA will provide new educational offerings in February, focused on practice success and positive patient outcomes, including the “What’s So Special About Myopia Management?” COPE CE event on February 25 and the PECAA Optical Management Certification, beginning on February 27. The “What’s So Special About Myopia Management?” event will provide up to six hours of COPE-accredited clinical continuing education to optometrists in a virtual webinar. Attendees will gain expanded knowledge of the disease, as well as how to best communicate with patients and collaborate with existing treatment options.

The PECAA Optical Management Certification is an eight-week program that serves as an encore to the first sold-out program offered in 2023. With recognition from accreditation by the Higher Education Committee, the program covers how to manage various practice modalities and apply and review strategies and metrics for a successful and profitable practice.

Both education offerings, available to PECAA members and non-members, along with the PECAA Max-member exclusive VSP Vision Exam Rebate enhancement, build on PECAA’s comprehensive suite of resources designed to support the future of independent eyecare.
