NEWARK, N.J.—A few years ago, the team at Women In Optometry (WO) started hearing more and more about side hustles during regular interviews with women ODs. There were so many interesting stories to share that needed a place of their own in the spotlight. The WO Gift Guide was born in 2019 to showcase the passion and dedication these ECPs pour into their work—that’s often done after office hours. WO is excited to share its fifth annual gift guide, a celebration of a unique group of creative women.

Find one-of-a-kind gift ideas created and curated by women who are in, connected to or inspired by the industry. WO has also included women who work in these industries and have a separate passion or side hustle.

"It’s exciting to see the WO Gift Guide grow each year," said Marjolijn Bijlefeld, editor in chief of Women In Optometry. "Our team, and especially associate editor Maggie Biunno Fernandez, works to update each entry, adding new photos and vendors after checking in with these artists. Many tell us that they're gearing up their inventory, knowing that they get a rush of orders after the Gift Guide comes out. The women involved truly illustrate the 'art' and the 'science' that comes together in optometry."

Each year, WO has introduced new shops and spotlighted individuals who have been featured in past gift guides. Find a wide variety of unique items from artwork to apparel, accessories and much more. And as you consider these for your holiday gifts, don’t forget that these shops are also open all year and could become a great go-to shopping spot for gifts for birthday, practice anniversaries and much more.

The Gift Guide is organized into five categories: Apparel and Accessories, Art and Decor, For the Office, Eyewear and For Kids and For Him. Meet the artisans and crafters and hear about their inspirations. Click here to read more about it and access the guide.
