VIENNA, Va.—Ossip Optometry with 36 locations across the state of Indiana, is joining MyEyeDr. Details of the transaction, which closed today, were undisclosed. The partnership further solidifies the presence of MyEyeDr. in the Midwest and marks the initial expansion of MyEyeDr. into Indiana. Future expansion is planned across Indiana and other markets throughout the Midwest, the company said. Sue Downes, CEO of MyEyeDr., told VMAIL, “MyEyeDr. is excited to partner with the 50+ doctors and incredible staff at Ossip along with the leadership team of Dr. Scott Allison, Zachary Ossip (3rd generation Ossip), and Terri Peschke.

Dr. Gregg Ossip will be joining the ownership group of MyEyeDr and will remain active in the business and industry.”

She added, “The cultures of both organizations are highly aligned and deeply focused on the patient experience.”

Ossip Optometry was founded in 1952 by Dr. Kenneth Ossip who graduated from The Ohio State School of Optometry. Dr. Gregg Ossip, after graduating from Indiana University School of Optometry, worked in the contact lens industry in New York. He joined his father, Ken, in October of 1980. He then grew the family practice from one location in 1980 to the 36 locations today.

Dr. Ossip stated, “Today’s announcement marks the first step in our journey together with MyEyeDr., the next step toward realizing our already shared mission and vision. This partnership will help us to carry on the legacy my father and so many of our professionals through the years created of patient focused eyecare.”

He added, “Ossip has been a leading eyecare company for over 66 years, and we are proud to announce this partnership to ensure our next 66 years.”

Asked if the branding of the practices will change, Downes said, “The Ossip name has been recognizable in Indiana for decades so we are in no hurry to change it.”

With this deal, MyEyeDr.’s operation spans 420 practices in 20 states, the company said.

Downes noted, “As we grow our family, we fulfill our purpose to partner with those prestige practices like Ossip, where doctors and associates alike, can continue to practice patient centric eyecare in the manner that has served them so well over many years in their local communities.”
