PORTLAND, Ore.—PECAA, a doctor alliance group for independent eyecare professionals, has sold out the reserved spots for its upcoming annual meeting. This marks the first time PECAA has sold out the meeting in the company’s history, according to an announcement. The meeting, which is free to attend for PECAA members, is scheduled to run May 16-18 in Austin, Texas, and it is expected to draw a record 900-plus attendees from the PECAA community, including member doctors and their staff, guests and vendor partners, according to the announcement. The meeting site is accessible here. PECAA serves more than 3,500 independent doctors across the U.S.

This year’s annual meeting includes several new features that the company said it believes may have contributed to the 30 percent increase in expected attendance. These new features include enhanced staff-track courses, and office manager and optician-specific training, as well as new round-robin offerings that allow attendees the ability to customize their own meeting schedules, the announcement noted.

PECAA also elevated the evening events, including the “Friday Night Member Appreciation Party,” which will close down two floors of Austin City Limits so attendees can enjoy music from headliner Robert Randolph and the Family Band. Randolph and the Family Band is a Grammy nominee he voted by Rolling Stone as one of the 100 greatest guitarists of all time.

“The interest in this year’s meeting has been unprecedented,” PECAA senior vice president and general manager Jamie Hughes said in the announcement. “It’s very rewarding to see our members so engaged and eager to participate in our signature event of the year. We look forward to continuing to grow this event and we hope to see even more of our member doctors and staff at our 2020 annual meeting in Colorado.”

The 2020 PECAA annual meeting is scheduled for April 30 - May 2, 2020, at the new Gaylord Rockies Resort & Convention Center in Aurora, Colo.
