Bruce Miles

MONTREAL—EssilorLuxottica Canada has appointed industry veteran Bruce Miles as general manager, professional solutions for the Canadian market. Miles will be responsible for both the frame and lens business across the country and will report directly to Fabrizio Uguzzoni, president of professional solutions, EssilorLuxottica North America. In its announcement, the company said Miles brings a breadth of experience, strong leadership, and considerable knowledge of the Canadian optical industry to the position. Most recently, he served as head of HumanWare, an EssilorLuxottica business that develops innovative products to help visually impaired people maintain their autonomy. Miles will maintain oversight of HumanWare in addition to his new role.

“Canada is a vital part of EssilorLuxottica’s North America business and will only grow in importance as we continue to bring our lens and frame businesses together,” said Uguzzoni. “Bruce is uniquely suited to deliver all that EssilorLuxottica has to offer to customers across Canada in the coming years. He is an exceptional leader, relationship builder and deeply committed to our mission, not to mention a Canadian who understands the market landscape well and who will fit right in with the capable team there.”

With more than 25 years of experience in sales and marketing, nine of which were spent in various senior sales leadership positions across Essilor, Miles has a deep understanding of the complexities and opportunities of the optical industry in Canada, the company added. "In his new role, he will foster the continued growth, innovation, and success of EssilorLuxottica Canada and its valued customers," the company said. Miles succeeds Rick Gadd, who announced his retirement earlier in the year.
