Paul W. Estes.

ROCHESTER, N.Y.—Neuroscience technology company Cognivue, Inc., has announced that Paul W. Estes has been promoted to president. He will guide the executive leadership team and oversee the company’s technology roadmap planning, new product expansion, partnership relations, sales and staffing, according to the announcement. Estes succeeds Tom O'Neil, who left the company for a non-competitive leadership role in the health care infrastructure sector, the company said. Estes’ appointment comes after 15 years of serving in increasingly senior positions with Cognivue.

Cognivue Advanced is the first FDA-approved computerized test of cognitive function. The service supports new research on the connection between cognitive function and the onset of diseases. The company is seeking to build awareness of the test and its services among optometrists, who are also seeking ways to address new patient services and practice opportunities.

Estes joined the company in 2009, helping conceive and develop Cognivue technology, then played integral roles in its de novo 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and subsequent commercialization of Cognivue Advanced. Most recently, he was Cognivue’s chief operating officer.

“Cognivue is headed into its next chapter of success, making it an even greater privilege to lead so many incredibly talented people throughout the company," Estes said. "Cognivue has several exciting developments ahead, such as the full-scale launch of our FDA-cleared, next-generation technologies and continued participation in the groundbreaking Bio-Hermes clinical study with the Global Alzheimer’s Platform.

“We owe Tom a debt of gratitude for his contributions to Cognivue over the last six years. I plan to build on that momentum, with more growth to come for the benefit of our employees, partners, customers and patients,” Estes said.
