RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif.—The board of directors of VSP Vision has named Matt Wickham, OD, chairperson of the board for a two-year term. Dr. Wickham previously served as vice chairperson of the board and has been a member of the board of directors at VSP Vision for the past seven years. He has been a practicing optometrist for nearly three decades and co-founded Regional Eyecare Associates, an eight-location private practice in St. Louis. “The board of directors and I believe Dr. Wickham is the right leader to further VSP Vision’s mission,” said outgoing chairperson of the board Mary Anne C. Murphy, OD.

“As a passionate advocate for creating and maintaining access to eyecare, his broad experience will help guide and grow VSP Vision’s ability to meet the evolving needs of our network doctors, clients, and members,” Dr. Murphy said.

“It is one of the great honors of my life to serve as VSP Vision’s chairperson of the board,” said Dr. Wickham. “I look forward to working closely with our board and leadership team, along with industry leadership, as we continue to support the profession of optometry by creating pathways to independent practice and expanding access to eyecare—especially among growing health care deserts here in the U.S.”

Originally from Warrensburg, Mo., Dr. Wickham received his doctorate and graduated with honors from the University of Missouri - St. Louis College of Optometry in 1993.
