MELVILLE, N.Y.—Marchon Eyewear Inc., has officially moved to its new international headquarters located at 201 Old Country Road as of Oct. 17, 2011 and Vision Monday was given the first tour.

The new 62,000 square feet leased space now holds approximately 225 Marchon employees who were once housed in two separate locations, 265 Spagnoli Road and 35 Hub Drive, which when combined equaled only 50,000 square feet. The new location houses the company’s executive management, human resources, legal, finance, IT, sales, brand management/operations, supply chain, public relations and creative solutions departments and features the latest in office design.

“We partnered with one of the best companies in the world in office design environments and asked them to tell us how to best use this space to make the best possible environment based on modern, social and labor concepts and philosophies,” said Claudio Gottardi, president and CEO of Marchon. “We wanted to provide an environment conducive to building a team, so there is a lot of open space, a lot of community areas, where people can come out and talk in small groups. The office are not segmented, it’s all open and all friendly. And the good thing about this building is that we can expand; we can take over the second floor.”

In addition to promoting interactivity, the new headquarters’ open concept design provides designated areas for virtual meetings, communal dining and activities, rooms to house the collections of each brand, a master display room, ample natural light and pink noise which dampens any potentially distracting sounds.

Marchon retained the 35 Hub Drive location which underwent expansion with the addition of a mezzanine level. That space now equals about 100,000 square feet and houses the 250 to 300 employees in the company’s North American distribution center and customer service operations.

The company also maintained a third location, 50 Hub Drive, which was gutted and renovated. It now holds the returns and repairs, warehousing operations and non-frame inventory in 40,000 square feet with 75 employees. The lease on the Spagnoli location was not renewed.
