NEW YORK—The documentary film “Sight: The Story of Vision” will follow up its limited opening this week and through October with a full-scale national debut on public television stations around the nation this week, coinciding primarily with World Sight Day on Thursday, Oct. 13.

The documentary will air on PBS stations in 17 major markets Thursday, including New York City, Boston and Charlotte, after having debuted in several other markets around the country Monday through Wednesday (Oct. 10-12.)

The first public broadcast of the film came Thursday, Oct. 6, in the Tampa, Fla., market.

The one-hour film, which covers the science, technology and medical aspect of vision, previewed at Vision Expo West at an event supported by Carl Zeiss Vision and Luxottica.

In addition, Sight: Story of Vision Second Screen App is now available for download on the website. http://storyofsight.com/ This app, funded by Essilor, allows viewers to access additional content associated with the documentary. And the producers have released an eBook as a companion piece to the documentary. The Sight eBook was underwritten by a grant from CooperVision.
