TORONTO—Eyeglasses and contact lenses retailer, Coastal Contacts, Inc. will open its first physical store in Eastern Canada here on Nov. 29, 2013, this year’s Black Friday, the busiest shopping day of the year. This follows the second store the company opened in its hometown of Vancouver, British Columbia, in August, as reported by VMail, Aug. 9, 2013. The store will be located on Queen Street West, one of Toronto’s most well-known neighborhoods for restaurants and shopping.

“We're looking forward to connecting with our customers in Toronto,” said Roger Hardy, CEO of Coastal Contacts Inc. “Before announcing our expansion plans, we wanted to find a location that met all of our needs. Now that we have the location, our next priority is to recruit knowledgeable staff that will represent our brand in Toronto.”

“As we transition into brick and mortar, adapting to the omni-channel model, we want to be recognized as leaders in the physical retail space which is why we decided to open on Black Friday,” said Steve Wallace, vice president, sales. “We're excited to be able to take the feedback we've received from our Vancouver retail locations and apply it into our offline operations across the country.”

Future expansion plans for the online eyewear company have not been announced, however, Hardy said more retail locations will follow.
