A man fatally shot an Atlanta-area grocery store cashier after arguing with her about his face mask, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said.

After Victor Lee Tucker Jr., 30, argued with the cashier in the checkout line of the DeKalb County store, he left without making a purchase "but immediately returned inside. Tucker walked directly back to the cashier, pulled out a handgun and shot her," the bureau said in a news release.

Tucker then exchanged gunfire with a member of the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office who was working off-duty at the store, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said. Both men were wounded. Tucker was arrested by DeKalb County police as he tried to crawl out of the supermarket's front door.
