I’m not a good Goodbye Girl. Not especially great at making an exit, leaving, or letting go. But the last few months have been a different sort of transition for me, professionally and personally, too. This feels more like moving forward, heading toward something that will enable me to develop other perspectives, and make time for new ideas and experiences from a different place.

This is my last official column at Vision Monday and Jobson. I move on at the end of this month from the company, from this unique role I’ve been privileged to hold for so many years.

Eyewear and eyecare are the paths I turned onto more than three decades ago. I had absolutely no idea what to expect, and yet it kept rolling and unfolding, in directions that took me to many parts of the world, around the U.S. and, importantly, to meet and exchange ideas and knowledge with so many people who had so much to offer and share.

It’s a road that has been inspiring, intriguing, fun, and formidable, all at the same time. From the very beginning, when all I did was ask and learn and stumble and forge ahead, it has been a privilege to work with a special editorial and business team who have attempted to identify and interpret the ideas, products, services and impact of many, many different people, businesses and professionals.

To the uninitiated, eyewear and eyecare is not always something easy to decipher. But to those of us who have had a little time to see it from the inside as well as the outside, ‘vision’ is a multidimensional, fascinating, artful, technological wonder of a profession and business. It is already essential to life and livelihoods across the world. I can’t wait to see how the profession and industry continues to push its boundaries, challenge the status quo and advocate for its future.

Sincere thank you’s to our readers, my colleagues and friends.
