PASADENA, Calif.—Acuity Eye Group, a physician-owned and professionally managed ophthalmology group based here, said this week that it has added Schultz Eye Clinic of Yucca Valley, Calif., to its growing number of providers and clinics. The practice is run by Dr. Gerald Schultz. The details of the transaction were not disclosed in the announcement earlier this week. Upon closing of this deal, Acuity Eye Group is composed of 49 practice locations, four Acuity 360 co-located clinics and five ambulatory surgery centers, all in California, a spokeswoman told VMAIL.

Dr. Schultz has served patients in the Yucca Valley and Indio community for many years and will continue to provide comprehensive ophthalmology services at his practices post acquisition, the announcement noted.

“Acquiring practices owned by someone as well-respected as Gerald Schultz as well as being able to add an ophthalmology practice in Yucca Valley and expand our footprint in the Coachella Valley, is an exciting next step for us” said Dr. Michael Samuel of Acuity Eye Group. Samuel and doctors Tom S. Chang and Michael Davis are the founders of Acuity Eye Group, which provides patients access to industry-leading research and state-of-the-art technology, the announcement noted.

"I am very happy to join Acuity Eye Group,” Dr. Schultz said. “I’ve known both Tom Chang and Mike Samuel for quite some time. It’s apparent that Acuity Eye Group is a leader in the ophthalmology and retina space and provides high-quality services and support to both its doctors and its patients.”

Acuity Eye Group provides ophthalmologists and optometrists the support that helps them realize their full potential while providing best-in-class patient care to all those in need, the firm noted, and they are experts in the business of ophthalmology with years of experience in the industry. The company offers access to ophthalmology, retina, and optometry services from Visalia to San Diego.
