Koenig with Sir Elton John
LAS VEGAS and CHICO, Calif.—Koenig Films has announced that Sir Elton John has signed onto voice the narration of their upcoming documentary “SIGHT: The Story of Vision,” which is being produced in association with Southern Oregon Public Television for PBS distribution.

“We are so happy that Sir John has agreed to read for us.” said Kris Koenig, the film’s producer, “From the first day of preproduction, we’ve had only one voice in mind and that was Elton John’s. Eyeglasses are synonymous with him and that fits with the themes of the film.”

Filmed over the past two years on six continents, “SIGHT: The Story of Vision,” story threads weave the tale of the journey of humanity that discovered the science; technology and medicine that allows us to understand how sight works, cure diseases of the eye and correct vision. The film also presents the various eye health care crises that are taking place around the world, as VM has reported. A preview of the documentary was shown last night in Las Vegas at an event sponsored by Zeiss, one of the project's sponsors, along with other supporters and guests.

Koenig’s life partner and co-producer Anita Ingrao conceived of “SIGHT” several years ago when they were producing their last PBS Science Special, "400 Years of the Telescope." Unfortunately, Anita succumbed to forth stage breast cancer last fall. “Having Elton read was Anita’s dying wish,” said Koenig, ”I’m personally grateful to him for making her wish come true.”

“SIGHT” is underwritten in part by Zeiss, Brien Holden Vision Institute Foundation, Luxottica, VSP, Essilor and the Vision Council.

“Sight” is schedule for release in 2016. For more information visit www.StoryofSight.com.
