FRANKLIN PARK, Ill.—The board of directors of Opticote recently announced that Robert Sypniewski will be taking over the role of president. Sypniewski has been on Opticote’s management team for over 22 years and is considered one of the leading authorities on thin-film coatings in and outside of the optical community. Sypniewski is taking over the duties of the late Edwin Ellefsen, who passed away on July 8, 2014, after a long battle with cancer.

“Opticote has built a reputation for outstanding quality, exceptional customer service and innovative products.  Bob (Sypniewski) has been instrumental in our success and we could not have asked for a more proven leader to help us continue our mission,” said board spokesperson Elaine Favaro, who has been with Opticote since the mid-1980s.

Opticote is a Chicago-based, thin-film coatings facility that offers custom mirror coatings and anti-reflection coatings. Opticote is also involved in the production of thin-film coatings in the U.S. military, aerospace, mobile cellular devices, and various other non-optical products.
