MILAN—As its organizers note that Mido "has always promoted a sustainable connection with both people and the planet, aiming at a restart that is going to be respectful of the 'Wonder' around us," the show is launching "Stand Up for Green," a competition that rewards exhibiting booths that stand for eco-awareness. Mido, the international eyewear and optics exhibition set to return to an in-person show Feb. 12-14, 2022, with the theme "Craving Wonder," provided some details this week of the new competition, for which applications are to be accepted through Jan.15, 2022. Organizers say they are "looking for booths made of reusable modules, eco-friendly materials or low environmental impact raw materials."

A link to application and rules is posted here.

As explained in the contest details, the goal of the new Stand Up For Green competition is "to help the culture of sustainability flourish among all professionals in the sector." Those who can take part are all companies participating as exhibitors in the 2022 Mido edition.

An award ceremony will take place at the fair at a specially organized event and the winner will receive an award that symbolizes Mido's commitment to sustainability. The company behind the award-winning stand will also be at the center, along with Mido, of a major communications campaign aimed at international sector-based and general interest publications, and online media and social-media platforms, and will have a dedicated space in the sustainability section of the event’s website. A special jury panel will award the prize.

A week ago, Mido also launched its separate BeStore Competition and application process for 2022, as VMAIL reported, which seeks to recognize leaders in optical retail, culled from submissions around the world.
