PLEASANTON, Calif.—CooperVision, a division of The Cooper Companies (NYSE:COO) has adopted Unilateral Product Pricing (UPP) for its Clariti line of contact lenses, effective today, according to Bob Ferrigno, CooperVision president, North America.

This follows the company's $1.2 billion acquisition of Sauflon, manufacturer of the Clariti line of contact lenses, completed in August 2014.

Ferrigno told VMail, "We held 12 focus groups and spoke with 100 ECPs, who felt UPP was consistent in helping them maintain their relationships with their patients."

Ferrigno added that CooperVision's manufacturer's rebates would continue to be offered on the Sauflon line of contact lenses.

CooperVision's sales force will begin to inform ECPs about the new policy beginning today and will follow up with other resources next week.

Ferrigno told VMail that the company intends to integrate Sauflon into CooperVision, creating one unit by Nov. 1, 2014. He emphasized the potential of Sauflon's products and production technologies as an important new element of CooperVision's product portfolio for monthly, two-week, and daily disposable modalities.
