Latest News Rockin’ for New Eyes Plans ’60s Theme for Annual Fundraiser By Staff Friday, January 18, 2019 12:27 AM NEW YORK—If you love the music of the ’60s, you’ll have a chance to experience the fun and excitement of it at Rockin’ for New Eyes, the annual rock ‘n’ roll fundraiser in support of New Eyes for the Needy. Organizers are spreading the word about the March 23 show, along with plenty of good vibes, as they prepare for the ’60s-themed night of live music and dancing. “Our RFNE concert has become a must-see event during Vision Expo East,” Jean Gajano, New Eyes for the Needy’s executive director, told VMAIL. “We have only the generosity of the many talented musicians in the optical industry to thank for its great success over the past five years, raising over $900,000 to provide new prescription eyeglasses to families in financial need across the country. This year’s theme is the 1960s, a decade of great classic rock and roll. We’re encouraging everyone to go into their closets, find those old bell bottoms, fringed vests, love beads and go-go boots and get on the dance floor," said Gajano. John Alofs of Eyewear by R.O.I., who serves as co-chairperson of Rockin’ For New Eyes added, “We would like everyone from the band members to the audience to dress in ’60s style.” National Vision is the Premier Sponsor of Rockin’ for New Eyes. The other sponsors, to date, are: Charmant USA, Essilor of America, Europa Eyewear, Eyewear by R.O.I., Eyewear Designs, Hilco Vision, Jobson Optical Group, Kenmark Eyewear, Marco Ophthamic, MCQ LLC, Ocuco, The McGee Group, Transitions Optical, United Healthcare, Versant Healthcare and Zyloware. The 10th annual Rockin’ for New Eyes Concert will be held at the Hard Rock Café in Times Square on Saturday, March 23 between 8:30 p.m. and 12:30 a.m. Show organizers expect the event to be a sellout as the optical community enjoys a night of dancing, partying and listening to music performed by five bands made up entirely of people who actively work in the optical industry. Last year’s sold-out event raised $217,000 for New Jersey-based New Eyes for the Needy, a charity that supplies new eyewear to needy children and adults, free of charge.Companies interested in being a sponsor of Rockin’ for New Eyes should call New Eyes for the Needy at (973) 376-4903. Tickets will go on sale soon on the New Eyes for the Needy website and may also be purchased on the evening of the show at the Hard Rock, depending upon availability.
