NEW YORK—Singer-songwriter and entrepreneur Will.i.am has collaborated with designer and long-term friend George Gorrow to release their first collection of experimental eyewear, distributed by Allison SpA.
The ill.i collection includes optical and sunglasses styles for both men and women. The men’s sunwear collection includes round, thin metal frames with design highlights such as pilot-inspired spoilers and double brow bar. The men’s styles also include angular metal and straight topped acetate frames in square shapes.
Featuring a distinctive oversized cat-eye frame, the women’s sunglasses collection continues the trend of using vintage, fashion-forward styles to mimic hip hop pioneers from the 1980s, according to Will.i.am. The women’s optical collection stays on trend while featuring round thin frames, double brow detail and square acetate frames with ill.i. detailing.
Along with using experimental combinations of both metal and acetate, the eyewear collection also has a focus on comfort including diagonal hinges and comfort acetate top bars. Each collection will provide matte and polished textures in gold, black, white, silver, gunmetal and tortoiseshell.
