SPRINGFIELD, Mo.—Earlier this month, the team at Springfield Family Vision proved that they know how to throw a party. To celebrate their decision to sell independent eyewear brands exclusively, they hosted an event welcoming several new independent collections into their practice.

The celebration included a trunk show featuring Vinyl Factory, Red Bull SPECT and Von Arkel Switzerland frames. In addition, a Great American Taco Company truck gave away free tacos and a local radio station made an appearance for a live, onsite broadcast. Springfield Family Vison also handed out free drinks and had several giveaway opportunities for attendees.
The practice, which consists of Dr. Katie McElvaine and her husband, Scot, has supported independent brands since the beginning of their practice.

“Selling only products that were different from any place near us was part of our dream since before we opened in November of 2015, but it took us a while to understand that we didn't need the security blanket of known brand names to survive,” stated the McElvaines.

In addition to introducing new independent lines, Springfield Family Vision will be promoting their existing independent brands such as Dutz, Article One, STATE Optical Co. and Xavier Garcia Barcelona. They are also celebrating their transition to an independently-owned lab.

“We love the creativity and product quality of our independents. It is also so much more engaging for us to sell products that are different from the mainstream,” said the couple. “We enjoy telling the story of our products as well as matching unique products to faces and personalities.”
