Product: Biotrue ONEday for Astigmatism daily disposable contact lenses
Top Line: Bausch + Lomb is launching expanded parameters for Biotrue ONEday for Astigmatism daily disposable contact lenses. The lenses are now available in nearly 50 percent more parameters.
Close Up: The expansion extends the full power range to +4.00D to -9.00D, in three cylinder powers of -0.75, -1.25 and -1.75, and additional parameters in a -2.25 cylinder. With this extended range, eyecare professionals will have the opportunity to offer more astigmatic patients the convenience of a daily disposable contact lens that provides continued comfort and moisture retention.
“While there is a significant number of astigmatic patients in the U.S., many are not fitted in a toric lens as they believe there are limited options available to address their unique vision needs,” said John Ferris, general manager, U.S. Vision Care, Bausch + Lomb. “We believe that the parameter expansion of Biotrue ONEday for Astigmatism will allow eyecare professionals to fit more of these patients with a convenient, comfortable daily disposable lens option.”
Vital Stats: Similar to the other products in the Biotrue ONEday brand family, Biotrue ONEday for Astigmatism has a patented dehydration barrier that allows the lens to maintain nearly 100 percent of its moisture for 16 hours. In addition, Biotrue ONEday for Astigmatism contact lenses offer an evolved peri-ballast design, featuring a tapered edge to limit lid interaction, and spherical aberration control to help reduce halos and glare, particularly in low light conditions.
