Product: EyeQue Insight Vision Screener
Top Line: EyeQue announced the addition of two new vision tests to its EyeQue Insight vision screener: color vision and contrast sensitivity testing.
Close Up: The EyeQue Insight combines a binocular viewer, mobile application and cloud-based service in a smartphone-powered vision screener. The two additional vision tests are now available for all new and existing Insight device owners through the latest myEyeQue visual acuity application. With these new test additions, EyeQue Insight users are able to expand vision monitoring capabilities with three core functions: visual acuity, contrast sensitivity and color vision testing.
Although EyeQue markets directly to consumers, the company is developing relationships with eyecare professionals. Currently, there are two optometrists on its advisory board, and an ophthalmologist recently joined its team. An EyeQue spokesperson told VMAIL that the company is interested in working with ophthalmologists because they have “a high frequency relationship with their patients” and may be interested in using new technology such as at home vision monitoring to enhance patient engagement. The spokesperson also noted that EyeQue’s software development team is capable of supporting a range of ECP needs.
Vital Stats: EyeQue currently offers two intelligent vision solutions with more than 17,000 devices in the hands of consumers.
