NEW YORK—Optical industry singers and musicians gathered for the fourth annual fundraising concert, Rockin’ for New Eyes, at the Hard Rock Cafe on April 1. The show featured industry stalwarts as well as optometric students, and once again benefitted New Eyes for the Needy’s prescription eyeglass program for children and adults in need in the U.S.

As for the funds that were raised, the amount was impressive. Show organizers presented New Eyes executive director, Jean Gajano, with an oversized check for $203,160, a record amount for the four years the event has been held.

In a note to band members and fund-raisers, Gajano said, “New Eyes is honored and privileged to have you all participate and because of your willingness to share your considerable time and talent, this year New Eyes will able to help 5,000 more children, adults and senior citizens in need get the glasses they could not otherwise afford. Please know your impact is deep and long-lasting—and we are forever grateful.”
