Movies are great; they are the perfect form of escape to another time, place or reality. In this week’s Bold Face we feature three movies that are better than a time machine because they also feature these famous faces…

Chiwetel Ejiofor made a recent splash for his performance in the film 12 Years A Slave. Of course the movie’s time period and subject matter is less a time one might want to revisit, than an important moment in history we should all remember. Nonetheless, the film won Best Motion Picture - Drama at the Golden Globes and has been nominated for the Academy Award for Best Film. The 36-year-old has also received both Golden Globe and Oscar nods for his portrayal of Solomon Northup, the movie’s writer and the story’s protagonist. Lupita Nyong’o, his 12 Years A Slave co-star, has also been praised for her performance in the film. The 30-year-old graduate of the Yale School of Drama also received both Golden Globe and Oscar nods for her part in the film, as well as a SAG Award win. Chiwetel wears the Valentino V629S sunglasses; while Nyong’o wears the Valentino V684S, both from Marchon. The Oscars are March 2 on ABC...

“The past is a ghost, the future a dream and all we ever have is now.” Bill Cosby is a wise, wise man. Bold Face doubts when he said that quote his was thinking of a movie about three friends who conspire to murder their awful bosses when they realize they are standing in the way of their happiness, but it somehow seems fitting. Jennifer Aniston stared in 2011’s Horrible Bosses as Dr. Julia Harris, a dentist and boss of Dale (played by Charlie day), who keeps sexually harassing him and trying to ruin his engagement. The movie was a dark comedy, so dark in fact they decided to make another one. Horrible Bosses 2 is currently filming and Aniston has returned to reprise her role as the man-eating Dr. Julia. In real life, Aniston in enjoying her own engagement, celebrating her recent 45th birthday and looking gorgeous in these Oliver Peoples XXV-S sunglasses. Horrible Bosses 2 will be in theaters in November…

Remaking a nearly 30 year old movie that had been set in the future presents a challenge. The main themes need to still resonate and a new future must be imagined. Those were exactly the challenges the people behind the new RoboCop film set out to conquer. Luckily, the movie’s original ideas about technology, man-vs.-machine, corporate greed and the militarized society are just as relevant today as they were in 1987. Next up, find the right actor to reprise the role; enter Joel Kinnaman. Kinnaman plays Alex Murphy, a husband, father and good cop in Detroit in 2028, who is critically injured in the line of duty, making him perfect to become the first part-man, part-robot police officer candidate for the multinational conglomerate OmniCorp. Of course, when a “multinational conglomerate” becomes involved greed is always an issue. You can see how it all turns out for our new RoboCop in his reimagined future in theaters now or just check out Kinnaman wearing the Leisure Society Harvard 51 sunglasses from Baumvision while on a recent walk through LAX with girlfriend Olivia Munn.
