SAN DIEGO—Zeiss recently launched Sunny the UV Chatbot, the first UV chatbot for vision. Designed to educate consumers and eyecare professionals about UV risk factors and dangers and the importance of UV safety, Sunny is part of a campaign to promote Zeiss’s new UVProtect Technology which provides an effective standard of UV400 for clear lenses across all lens materials.

“As part of our effort to raise awareness of the importance of UV protection for eyes, we have introduced Sunny the UV Chatbot on Facebook Messenger,” said Andrew Hyncik, vice president of marketing at Zeiss Vision. “It’s a fun, interactive and easy-to-use tool for anyone wanting to learn about their risk factors for UV exposure and how to better protect their eyes."

Available through Facebook Messenger Sunny has a short quiz, a UV risk assessment, important safety facts, a local UV Index, and can also help consumers find an eyecare provider to get an exam and switch to UVProtect lenses.

Zeiss launched Zeiss UVProtect Technology in April, as VM reported, which, according to Zeiss, “bridges a critical gap in UV protection in clear lenses, from the previous 380 nanometers in clear lenses to now complete UV 400 protection.”
