DALLAS—Essilor is releasing two “Ultimate Lens” packages, one for progressive lens wearers, the other for single vision wearers, that combine its newest, most innovative lens technologies.

“These lenses are covered by 15 patents and represent five years of research,” said Sherianne James, senior vice president, marketing for Essilor. “They are designed to work together. Grouping them into packages is a holistic approach that takes into account patients’ needs and simplifies the product selection process.”

James noted that packaging three different premium lenses together eliminates upselling, a sales method she said most patients and eye-care professionals dislike. “We’ve tested this approach, and 84 percent of consumers said they like it,” she said.

The “Ultimate Lens Package: Progressive” consists of Varilux X Series lenses, Crizal Sapphire 360° UV No-Glare lenses and Transitions Signature VII lenses. Varilux X Series lenses, are the most advanced Varilux progressives. They feature Essilor’s new Xtend Technology, which allows the wearer to see multiple distances through a single point in the lens. The new design extends wearers’ vision within arm’s reach, so wearers no longer have to search for “just the right spot” to see sharply at any distance, Essilor said.

Crizal Sapphire 360° UV No-Glare lenses feature new Multi-Angular Technology to reduce reflections from any angle of light for less distracting glare, better aesthetics and safer nighttime driving. Featuring optimal UV protection in a clear lens without compromising clarity, Crizal Sapphire 360° UV No-Glare lenses offer best-in-class transparency, as well as superior durability and cleanability, according to Essilor.

The “Ultimate Lens Package: Single Vision” substitutes Eyezen+ lenses for Varilux X, but is otherwise the same as the Progressive package. For single vision wearers age 17 and under, Essilor offers its new Eyezen+ 0 design. Like the Eyezen+ 1, 2, and 3 designs, the Eyezen+ 0 design is digitally surfaced and optimized. The Smart Blue Filter reduces exposure to harmful blue light, and W.A.V.E. Technology provides sharper vision.

Essilor will release both lens packages on Sept. 12. The launch will be supported by a new TV commercial that will begin airing nationally in October, according to James. Essilor is also launching a new consumer website, EssilorUltimateLens.com, that provides detailed information on the packages.
