Inception

1917, Foundation established in 1968

Program Results

One hundred thirty one million doses of Mectizan distributed by LCIF to people in 15 countries around the world to treat and control river blindness.

Ten million children screened by Sight for Kids, a joint initiative of LCIF and Johnson & Johnson Vision Care, that provides vision screenings, eyeglasses and other treatments.

Ten million doses of the sight-saving drug, azithromycin, dispensed to Ethiopians at risk of trachomoa in the first 18 months of the program.

As part of the SightFirst program, 7.6 million cataract surgeries have been performed.

Four hundred thousand glasses have been recycled each year. To date, more than 3 million eyeglasses have been distributed around the world.
