Mission
Sight is the most treasured of our five senses. We see the world and its myriad of colors and shapes through the windows of our eyes. We learn with them. We laugh with them. We communicate with them. We provide for our families with them. We see our loved ones with them. Sight can make the difference between a life of poverty and a life of opportunity.
670 million people are blind or visually impaired simply because they can’t get the glasses they need. Optometry Giving Sight funds the solution by supporting programs that offer not only eye exams and glasses in countries with little or no access to them, but that establish the infrastructure and human resources required for sustainable, quality vision care.
Vision
Transforming lives through the gift of vision. A world where avoidable blindness and vision loss due simply to the lack of a pair of eyeglasses no longer threatens the quality-of-life and future livelihood of children and adults because there is universal access to quality vision and eye care services for all those in need.

Program Results
By the end of 2009, Optometry Giving Sight will have distributed US $3 million through our partners to help screen and provide basic eye care services to more than 3.5 million people, train 1550 mid-level eye care personnel and create 101 vision centers/ optical labs.
