For the first time ever, Oakley has enlisted a woman for their Limited Edition Artist Series with artist Caia Koopman lending her unique aesthetic to the fashion-forward Ravishing frame. Koopman represents the Oakley Women ideal; a California native, she has long been involved in the skateboarding, surf and snow communities and her “characters” have graced snowboards, skateboards and surfboards. “We chose Caia because of her graphic approach to painting. During a public judging, the three person jury conferred iF material awards on 28 out of a total of 98 competing entries, which featured an expanded set of criteria, including the issues of ecology and sustainability. Linkskin was one of five who had even more cause for celebration, as they were simultaneously selected to receive an iF Gold Award at a public awards ceremony on April 20, 2009. The 2009 competition was open to manufacturers, designers, architects, developers and engineers, who were all invited to submit their projects in three categories, including Materials, Products and Processes. Entries were then judged on their degree of innovation, the choice of materials and their environmental compatibility…
