LAS VEGAS— American Optical Services (AOS) continued its corporate expansion strategy with the acquisition of two optical practices—Apple Hill Eye Center in York, Pa., and Tifton Ophthalmology in Tifton, Ga.—each practice consisting of a single location. In both cases, the doctors/owners will be staying on staff. This brings AOS’ total number of units to 97.

“Apple Hill Eye Center is known for its wide range of eyecare services from eye exams to cataract surgery to the latest fashion eyewear,” according to a statement from AOS, and “Tifton Ophthalmology is built around the concept that from routine eye exams and frame fitting to cataracts and other procedures, all patients should see a medical doctor to assure they receive the best care.”

Through these and previous acquisitions ( Eyear Optical with five practices in the McAllen, Texas, area; Thomas Retinal Eye Specialists in Bethlehem and East Norriton, Pa.; Lakewood Eye Clinic, in Lakewood, Colo., outside of Denver; and The Eye Gallery, with 10 locations in Georgia and Florida, as reported by VMail) AOS seeks to create regional networks in all areas of the country by closing the gap between its existing state hubs. “As we continue to grow our network in each state we look to expand our reach into the smaller cities that will connect one state to the next,” said Pierre Keyser, founder and chief executive officer.
