NEW YORK—EyeDocApp, a fast-growing technology app which enables eyecare practices to develop their own individual mobile app to connect to patients, has signed an exclusive sales and marketing agreement with Jobson Medical Information’s ECP Business Services unit, according to Bill Scott, president of ECP Business Services.

The EyeDocApp is the first customizable application for the eyecare industry and is compatible with iPhone, iPad and Android operating systems.

Developed by Scott Pouyat, OD of Lake Zurich Eyecare in Lake Zurich, Ill, the EyeDocApp was initially introduced in April of this year. Since then, it has been subscribed to by over 75 eyecare practices, according to Pouyat. The company intends to expand distribution to more practices via the new arrangement with Jobson.

Dr. Pouyat noted, “EyeDocApp’s cutting edge technology allows practices to differentiate themselves from their competitors featuring the ability to request/book appointments, order contact lenses, provide quick access to approved articles including a specialized Eye Encyclopedia. The EyeDocApp also includes built-in links to Facebook, Twitter and other social media networks, including access to YouTube and customized practice information such as Google Maps and directions.

“The EyeDocApp also offers the ability to update information at any time, allowing practitioners to update their office information, announce new practice services, promote customized deals and promotions and communicate with patients using these additional touch points that will keep the practice top-of-mind,” he said.

Patients can easily download the App for free via the Apple Store  here and from the Android Market  here, or search either site for EyeDocApp.

“The EyeDocApp is unique to the industry and is at the leading edge of technology today,” noted Scott, who added, “This is yet another example of our commitment to providing products and services to eyecare professionals that will add value to their practices and provide innovative solutions to increase patient and doctor communication.”

EyeDocApp will be previewed at the Academy of Optometry meeting in Boston this week, at the Review of Optometry booth.
