KINGWOOD, Texas—Texas-based optometric alliance, Vision Source, has announced the promotion of Derrick L. Artis, OD, MBA from vice president of vendor relations and member services to executive vice president of operations.

In his new role, Artis will be responsible for leading the operations group "as they continue to deliver value to the Vision Source members and vendor partners," the company said. Key leaders in the operations group are senior vice president, John McCall, OD, and the vendor relations team, vice president of practice development, Walt West, OD, and the practice development team, and vice president of professional development, Hans Kell, OD, who leads the administrator network and member services teams.

“We are laser focused on enhancing the success and profitability of Vision Source members and vendor partners, as well as ensuring that 2,700+ Vision Source practices and 5,500+ member doctors in the U.S. and Canada receive the best vendor programs, practice management resources and customer service in the industry,” said Artis.

Prior to his employment at Vision Source, Artis was the director of professional affairs at Vistakon and a private practice optometrist for 10 years.

Founded in 1991, Vision Source is North America’s largest network of private practice optometrists.
