NEW YORK—Organizers of next Friday’s Rock4Sight fundraiser are making final preparations for their last show in New York, which they said is shaping up to be the best in their long-running series of annual fundraisers at the Hard Rock Café. The event will relocate to Orlando, Fla., in 2025, along with Vision Expo East. As with previous Rock4Sight shows, this one will benefit ECN Purpose, a 501c3 charity dedicated to providing eye health education and connection to vision care to the underserved. Proceeds from the prior shows have been used to finance a mobile eye health program and vision van that serves schools in Orange County, Calif.

Rock4Sight will feature an array of top-notch musical talent drawn from throughout the optical industry. The singers and musicians, all of whom are volunteers, will perform in four different bands, each focused on one of four musical genres: R&B, rock, country and metal.

“One of the rewarding aspects of organizing the event and keeping the ‘Rock4Sight musical family’ together is recruiting new musical talent from the optical industry,” remarked Bob Stein, a longtime optical industry executive who is Rock4Sight’s co-chairperson. “This year we want to highlight three recent additions to the show, two of whom are practicing optometrists and truly exceptional musicians: guitarist Jerry D’Aversa and keyboardist and vocalist Justin Lewis.

Stein said the other new addition is guitarist and vocalist Jake Alofs, who will be performing in the country music set. He is the son of Rock4Sight co-chairperson, John Alofs, who is the founder and CEO of Eyewear by ROI.

“I was in high school the first time I went to see my dad and his friends play at the Hard Rock Café, so to be able to perform on that stage for the first time at the final New York City concert is a bit surreal,” said Jake Alofs. “I have never performed for so many people live before.”

Rock4Sight 2024 will take place at the Hard Rock Café on Friday, March 15. The show starts at 8:30 p.m. and continues until 12:30 a.m. Many of the sponsors will have tickets available for their industry friends. Individual tickets can be purchased at https://ecnpurpose.org/events, and tickets will also be available at the door.
