MIAMI—iCare Health Solutions, a VSP Vision company, announced it has acquired Optical Outlets, one of Florida’s largest optometric retailers. Optical Outlets will continue to operate as it does today, but now as a part of iCare Health Solutions, the largest integrated eyecare provider in the state, the announcement said. “Optical Outlets enables us to advance the delivery of great patient care coupled with a fantastic member experience and leverage complementary capabilities,” said iCare Health Solutions CEO Lee Stern.

“This further strengthens our presence in the region and our ability to offer more choice to our members and health plan partners requesting more diversified options for care that deliver best-in-class outcomes.”

Founded in 1987 by Dr. Robert Lewenson, Optical Outlets has grown to include 56 locations, with more than 550 employees and a full-service optical manufacturing laboratory. Optical Outlets’ locations are primarily located in central Florida as well as the west coast of the state.

The management team at Optical Outlets will continue in their roles under the direction of Ron Amster, who has been named general manager. He will be responsible for day-to-day operations, execution of strategy, and driving alignment between the two organizations. Amster joins the company from Visionworks where he most recently served as vice president of store growth and real estate operations. He will report to Stern.

“Our organizations share an important commitment to preserving and enhancing the relationship between doctor and patient,” said Dr. Lewenson. “This is an exciting combination that will help expand access to eyecare in Florida.”
