CLEVELAND, Ohio—"The Power Hour" podcast, optometry’s longest-running, practice-building show, has announced that Eugene Shatsman is the new host for its 12th season, which was just relaunched late last month. After analyzing feedback from listeners and stakeholders, The "Power Hour’s" new format is redesigned to maximize the impact on listeners and their practices. This season is poised to feature conversations inside and outside the optometric industry, highlight exclusive insights and data, and create panel discussions around relevant industry topics, the company said. The show is backed by The Power Practice, the consulting and coaching group dedicated to supporting independent optometry for more than 20 years.

Serving the eyecare industry for the majority of his career as the managing partner of National Strategic Group, Shatsman brings a unique combination of experience in practice growth, demand generation, industry-specific technology and ROI-positive marketing. He is a sought-after speaker, with his most-requested topics centered around artificial intelligence, search engine optimization, marketing performance maximization, patient recall processes and identifying untapped potential in practices.

As the new host of "The Power Hour," Shatsman will leverage his background in practice growth to cultivate shows with timely perspectives, strategic insights and unique points of view. His approach centers on practical advice and actionable strategies to help enhance practices, support the industry and adapt to our ever-changing environment. “Eugene's leadership is a great match for the optometric community. He was one of the top-rated speakers at The Power Practice Client Retreat, so we know that his insights resonate with our clients,” said Allison Kraemer, VP of client services, The Power Practice.

The first episode of season 12, which debuted on March 27, featured a conversation between Shatsman and Dr. Gary Gerber, founder and previous chief dream officer of The Power Practice, bridging the podcast’s iconic past with its impactful future. The episode was downloaded over 1,300 times in the first few days, setting a record for the last  three years of the program.

The second episode features Ashley Mills and Alysse Henkel from The Vision Council discussing recently analyzed consumer data, the Vision Expo East's relocation in 2025, and trends in eyecare.  Upcoming episodes include practice success stories, industry disruptors, marketing legend Jay Abraham and provider panels on dry eye, myopia, and aesthetics.

"The Power Hour" has supported the industry with hundreds of episodes and millions of listens. The show was founded as an extension of The Power Practice, a membership-based consulting and coaching organization dedicated to supporting independent optometric practices. The Power Practice offers support for practice owners looking to grow financially, increase their free time, start a practice and gain confidence in their decision-making.

“'The Power Hour' plays an important role in keeping The Power Practice connected to our community, and I am thrilled for this next season with Eugene at the helm,” said Joe Colucci, executive director of The Power Practice.

To promote an engaged community, this season’s episodes will be published on YouTube and listeners will have additional opportunities to provide feedback, request topics and submit real-life situations for discussion.
