NEW YORK—Keying off the theme, “BrainStorm,” Vision Monday’s 10th Annual Global Leadership Summit will bring together some of today’s most creative thinkers to explore new trends in business, science and technology and discuss how they formulate and develop new ideas.

Joining them at the Summit, which will take place at The Times Center in New York on April 13, is one of the world’s premier jazz pianists, Bill Charlap. A Grammy award-winning pianist, bandleader and educator, Charlap has performed with many leading artists ranging from Phil Woods and Tony Bennett to Gerry Mulligan and Wynton Marsalis. He is known for his interpretations of American popular songs and has recorded albums featuring the music of Hoagy Carmichael, Leonard Bernstein, George Gershwin, Irving Berlin, Cole Porter, Richard Rodgers and Duke Ellington.

Together with Ted Gioia, a musician, author, jazz critic and expert on management and business creativity, Charlap will discuss how he develops new songs and arrangements and will illustrate them with musical examples.

“The conversation between Bill Charlap and Ted Gioia, two of the most creative minds in music, should be fascinating for all Summit attendees,” said Andrew Karp, Vision Monday’s group editor, lenses and technology. “Bill and Ted will treat us to a master class in what could be called ‘jazz thinking’, the creative process that underlies this original American art form. It’s going to be a highlight of the Summit.”

The Bill Charlap Trio, featuring bassist Peter Washington and drummer Kenny Washington, is recognized as one of the leading groups in jazz. The trio has received two Grammy Award nominations. The Grammy award-winning Tony Bennett & Bill Charlap/The Silver Lining: The Songs of Jerome Kern on the RPM/Columbia label was released in September of 2015.

There are still a limited number of seats available for the 2016 VM Summit. A full list of speakers and registration details are posted here.
