PLEASANTON, Calif.— CooperVision, Inc., a unit of The Cooper Companies (NYSE:COO), has appointed Bob Ferrigno as president, North America, a move which became effective in February 2014. Ferrigno has overall responsibility for guiding the organization’s future strategies and direction for the region, an announcement said.

The role was formerly held by Andrew Sedgwick, who was named executive vice president of commercial strategy and business development for CooperVision last year.

“We are excited to have Bob join the CooperVision team. Bob’s experience in strategic planning, financial management and market expansion will bring a refreshing perspective to our organization and support our continued growth,” said Daniel G. McBride, president of CooperVision, Inc.

“I am honored to help lead CooperVision into a new era of growth and opportunity for the company, our industry and our customers across North America,” said Ferrigno. “One of the driving forces behind accepting this position was the market opportunity for CooperVision. We are a strong performing company that is well positioned to differentiate our offerings and sustain our competitive advantage.”

Prior to joining CooperVision, Ferrigno was with Becton Dickinson (BD), a global medical technology company, for 32 years.
